The Opportunity:

The Physical Infrastructure Operations Engineer works in the office and is responsible for rack/stack, power, cabling, labeling and asset inventory of networking, storage, compute infrastructure. The engineer provides smart hands support for NetSec, NetOps, PhySec, Telecom, Storage, Backup Tape media vaulting as needed ensuring delivery or exceptional customer service. The engineer must be willing to respond to Power/Cooling emergencies given them in a 24/7 operations.


The Day-to-Day:

  • Provide and maintain redundant power to rack mounted devices in Data Center/IDF/MDF
  • Perform scheduled maintenance support tasks to replace, upgrade rack power PDU/UPS and upgrade firmware/replace parts of all IT hardware
  • Ensure the physical infrastructure room space kept organized/clean, including racking/untracking, dressing organizing cabling/labeling/tools
  • Support as smart hand for various technology engineers and provide troubleshooting tasks/reports of any system/device
  • Follows escalation procedures to engage required key resources to critical events
  • Utilize ServiceNow incident/change management and logging work activities to the assigned/unassigned Incidents/Tasks
  • Update and maintain appropriate documentation for changes in DCIM, and ticketing applications
  • Facilitate onsite visits for vendors, escort as appropriate log visitors’ check-in/checkouts
  • Ensure daily walkthrough for visual inspections and report/log of any abnormalities observed inside Compute Rooms/IDF/MDF
  • Ability to work in afterhours, flex schedule, weekends, or other shifts assigned to support the firm’s 24/7 operations
  • Complete other duties assigned by managers on demand to support IT/technology service outage emergencies
  • Work onsite, travel to other sites, collocation under direct supervision

Your Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience Windows operating system administration
  • 2-3 years of experience with Windows application Installs and upgrades
  • 2-3 years of experience in physical work, racking/un-racking heavy equipment, fiber/copper patch cabling, labeling equipment/cables, end of life assets e-waste inventory and disposal tasks
  • High level understanding of technologies involved with physical data center environment cooling/airflow rack power management knowledge and equipment Network, Console, Storage Switches, Servers, Tape Libraries, Rack PDU/UPS/Batteries replacement procedures
  • Ability to communicate and willing to learn Cloud platform administrations and escalate technology issues appropriately with vendors and business customers
  • Experience managing backup Tape libraries, tapes media cartridges offsite vaulting
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Compensation:

  • $70,000 – $100,000 base salary per year in the state of WA - New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range depending on experience
  • Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance
