The Opportunity:
The in-house legal team is seeking a Paralegal to help support the global Fisher organization. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an individual with strong communication skills and love of learning.
The Paralegal will work directly with the in-house lawyers in their support of the global Fisher organization. The legal team seeks to support business goals with pragmatic solutions, while at the same time ensuring the organization is meeting legal requirements globally.
You will work as part of the legal team, helping support the global business by providing various services including document preparation and review, research and analysis, organizing and managing projects, communicating with senior management and external parties, liaising with various internal groups, and other services. In your first year, you will learn and develop expertise with many of these tasks, becoming a relied upon and trusted member of the team.
The Day-to-Day:
While responsibilities will vary based on business need from time to time, responsibilities may include:
- Drafting and preparing policies, procedures and guidelines on legal requirements, and other materials
- Reviewing, editing and advising the business on vendor and/or custodial contracts.
- Researching issues and providing analysis and recommendations
- Reviewing and approving materials, information and/or documents based on guidance provided by the legal team, including helping the business units understand requirements and instructing the business units on the use of such materials, information and/or documents
- Responsible for updating and maintaining various internal guides, information and/or documents for use in advising the business units
- Supporting or leading ad hoc projects assigned by the legal team, at times functioning as a project manager
Your Qualifications:
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Are an excellent writer able to tailor writing style to different audiences
- Possess a high level of attention to detail
- Are highly organized and able to manage multiple projects
- Can effectively deal with complexity, ambiguity and nuances
- Are able to analyze various situations and develop creative solutions
- Have highly developed analytical skills, including the ability to read and analyze complex writings
- Are highly intelligent, with intellectual curiosity and a high aptitude for learning new areas
- Are self-motivated, a self-starter and proactive
- Are highly dependable and reliable
- Are able to prioritize workload and manage time across competing tasks
- Can adapt to changes in a fast paced, team environment and have the ability to take instructions from multiple lawyers
- Are proficient in Microsoft Word
While not required, the following experiences are a plus: project management; prior role drafting, reviewing and editing content; paralegal experience; at least 2 years of FI experience.
