The Opportunity:
PMG offers the unique chance to impact Fisher’s product, work with inspiring people, the opportunity to innovate and realize your career potential.
The Trading department at Fisher Investments is where the 300+ models the IPC manage meet the rest of the investment universe. We enthusiastically pursue best execution in micro-to-mega capitalization securities in countries from Vietnam and Kenya to the U.S. and other global developed markets. The decisions our traders make, as directed by the IPC, directly impact clients' portfolios across all strategies.
Trading's mission is simple: Seek best execution on all trades within the objectives of the IPC. While this goal may appear straightforward at first glance; with over 370,000 managed accounts spread across multiple custodians, countries, and departments; the behind-the-scenes trading architecture is vast and complex. As such, those historically hired into the Jr. Trader role have possessed proven track records of success. In the Jr. Trader role, you will be challenged to learn the intricacies of capital markets, as well as how to trade all asset classes including stocks, bonds, and currencies. You will also gain technical skills by using a variety of IT systems specific to Trading.
The Jr. Trader position is an Analyst-level role tailored to offer a more gradual learning curve for those who do not have extensive trading experience.
The Day-to-Day:
- Execute trades in all asset classes across global markets
- Work with Portfolio Engineering and the IPC to address market and trading-related questions
- Provide pre- and post-trade transaction cost analysis information to the Institutional group supporting both sales and service
- Develop and implement plans to increase efficiency within the trading team’s operational and execution processes
- Use technical skills within platforms such as Bloomberg, CRD, and Excel
- Develop relationships with major brokerage trading desks and related fixed income trading teams seeking pools of liquidity and execution capabilities
Your Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a high degree of intellectual curiosity, especially in relation to capital markets
- Are able to rapidly learn new technology, processes, and workflows
- Enjoy working with both internal teams and external business partners
- Have a desire to understand the operational minutiae of FI's portfolio management process
- Exhibit exceptionally high attention to detail and a constant awareness of risk
- Can manage complex, ambiguous situations
Compensation:
- $75,000 - $100,000 base salary per year in the state of WA. New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range depending on experience.
- Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance
Please submit your application alongside a statement of interest addressing what you are looking to gain from this opportunity. We will conduct a preliminary screen of applicants based on qualifications, work performance, and manager feedback. You may not receive an interview. Note that there is a requirement of two years of Fisher experience. If you’d like to know more about the role, feel free to get in touch with Ed Baraban.
